The science of sports nutrition has four basic components - Fuelling, Refuelling, Repair and Recovery:

1. FUELLING - carbohydrates are vital to fuelling your muscles with the energy they need to get through an event or training session, in particular complex carbohydrates which can be found in wholegrain pasta, cereal or bread, oatmeal or dried fruit. If you are nervous before an event, try a meal replacement that contains carbohydrates, such as Herbalife's ShapeWorks Formula 1 Protein Shake Mix - a carbohydrate, protein, vitamin and mineral nutritional shake that can be mixed with fruit juice or semi-skimmed milk.
